Wisconsin factory fire quickly extinguished

Posted on by SST

A small factory fire was quickly extinguished due to a fast response from area firefighters.

According to the Menomonee Falls, Wis., Patch, Fire Chief Jeffrey Hevey, of the Menomonee Falls Fire Department, said a nearby resident who witnessed smoke billowing out of the old factory on Pershing and Hayes Avenue notified authorities at 4:16 p.m. on June 6. Just minutes later, firefighters arrived on the scene.

The factory is not currently being utilized by a tenant, hence leading authorities to conclude there was suspicious or criminal intent behind the blaze. As noted by Hevey, a pile of waste paper and boxes was on fire inside the building – a fire that was contained within 15 minutes. Because the factory building was in sub-standard condition, possibly lacking an updated fire alarm system, crews were thorough in vetting the building to prevent any rekindling.

How can you protect your warehouse from a fire?
Keeping your warehouse compliant and safe is easy. Employ the use of emergency lighting with clearly lit exit signs, a fire alarm with an automatic sprinkler system, along with strategically placed fire extinguishers. It is important to keep your fire extinguisher updated.
