A multiple-alarm fire that produced heavy smoke and caused significant property damage took over a warehouse in the early afternoon of July 29, according to a Woodridge, N.J., Patch report.
The fire took place at National Fence Systems Inc. and began when an industrial oven ignited, according to Roy Hoppock, Woodbridge police captain. The fire intensified, causing the roof of the building to collapse.
Firefighters were quick to arrive on the scene and were eventually able to put out the blaze, though there are no details as to the extent of the damage sustained by National Fences. Local roads were blocked off and others were closed until the fire had been completely put out.
Everyone in the building was quickly evacuated, likely after hearing a fire alarm system or fire alarm control system. Four pregnant employees were transported to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation as a precautionary measure. According to the report, it does not appear that the women will experience lingering effects from the fire.
