Fixed Clean Agent Systems

Upon detection of a fire and alerting of personnel, the fire must be extinguished. Water is the traditional extinguishing agent, but in many of today’s installation, water damage may be worse than the damage caused by the fire. In those cases, release of a gaseous extinguishant in the hazard area, which leaves little residue and cleanup, is more desirable. Today’s agents are formulated to not only produce the desired extinguishing characteristics, but also to minimize the long term effects that any of these agents have on the environment when released. These agents are referred to as “Clean Agents”, to distinguish them from Halon, which was used for years but later found to be causing global warming.

Carbon Dioxide is recommended for protection of unoccupied facilities. Economical, computer-designed and engineered; using total flooding, hand hose line and/or local application.  The most technologically advanced CO2 fire suppression systems available. Colorless, odorless and electrically nonconductive. Rapid cleanup equals minimal downtime. Marine approved systems are available.

FM-200 is the preferred environmentally-friendly fire suppression system for vital facilities that can't afford fire-related business interruption of process controls, automated industrial operations, robotics, and other delicate equipment. An FM-200 system is the most likely choice as a Halon replacement system. Often, the system can be dropped into existing pipework, reducing retrofit time and costs.

FE-13 is clean, safe and fast acting, with no EPA restrictions. Designed for harsh and demanding applications; low temperature environments, high ceiling structures or hazards requiring high concentration inerting. Low boiling point and high vapor pressure mean effective suppression where other agents fail.

3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fluid presents distinct environmental benefits, including a zero Ozone Depletion Factor (ODP) and the lowest Global Warming Potential (GWP) of any chemical based clean agent, key to satisfying demands of environmentally sensitive locations.

Argonite, an inert gas consisting of a mixture of argon and nitrogen that suppresses fire by depleting oxygen in the protected space. Environmentally safe and requires minimal post-fire cleanup. Suitable for total flooding of enclosed spaces only.

Marine Systems specially rated for shipboard use can be provided using most of the above clean agents.
